LEARN MORE ABOUT MY OUTDOOR COLORADO
ABOUT
My Outdoor Colorado (MOC) is a visionary partnership approach to connecting youth and their families from the Cole and Westwood communities of Denver with the outdoors. MOC Partners develop places to play and connect with nature; programs that activate those places; and pathways to community stewardship, paid jobs and leadership roles.
Through environmental education and interpretation, youth are able to connect, explore, and inspire themselves and other neighborhood youth by acting as mediators between families, Park Rangers, and other authorities to ensure that rules and regulations of the park are followed, and families can enjoy the outdoors as “safe spaces.”
MOC Partners include: Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver, Denver Parks and Recreation, GRASP, The Greenway Foundation, Groundwork Denver, The Kiva Center, Lincoln Hills Cares, Mile High Youth Corps, Mo’ Betta Green, ViVe Wellness and Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado.
GRASP Youth Park Guide program
The Youth Park Guide Program was created in response to the over-policing and gentrification in the Eastside Denver parks where youth and people of color gather to enjoy nature and the outdoors. The goal of the GRASP Youth Park Guide Program is to provide engaging, thematic and interpretive environmental programming for youth ages 14-21. The program runs June to September at Russell Square (Vine) Park and other surrounding urban parks within the Cole neighborhood.
