Regina Huerter
Biography
Regina “Regi” Huerter joined Policy Research Associates, Inc. as a Senior Project Associate in 2017 after retiring from the City and County of Denver where she served as the Executive Director of the Office of Behavioral Health Strategies, and the Crime Prevention and Control Commission. In this capacity she led juvenile and adult criminal legal system and behavioral health reform resulting in improved system efficiency, and effective policy and practices with a focus on addressing the needs of individuals with behavioral health, brain injury, trauma, housing instability and those with complex needs. Over her 47-year career she has worked in the fields of juvenile and adult justice; gangs and other subcultures; homelessness, mental health, substance use, trauma; implementing evidence-based practices; and local, state, and federal policy development.
Ms. Huerter holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Northern Colorado and a master’s degree in counseling and counseling psychology from the University of Colorado, Denver. Regina is a Sequential Intercept Model (SIM) Facilitator and designed the Substance Use, and Intellectual, Cognitive, Co-Occurring, and other Disability (ICCoD) SIM Workshops and related materials.
